About:
"Eye of the Marlin" is the first in Madison's new series, "Eye of the Beholder". Her new series focuses on capturing the moments of beauty of different creatures that Madison has seen throughout her life that have particularly caught her attention and have had profound, deeply-moving impacts on her. She aims to capture the essence of beauty within her memories of her encounters with each subject and to bring them into a light through her eyes that many have not seen or may not have ever noticed. Madison writes, "I named this series, "Eye of the Beholder", because these moments for me that I capture truly feel that way. I hold them in my mind. It's a very deep personal connection to marvel at these moments of beauty of the subjects I pull from my memories from my mind and to share them with the world. It's like my own personal album in my head that I've captured over time throughout my life with my own eyes. I know there are other people out there who have witnessed some of these moments through their own eyes too. I hope to connect with them and to show my audience what I've seen in God's beauty in His creations that deeply moved me."
This piece, "Eye of the Marlin" is entirely freehanded from Madison's mind capturing the beauty up close and personal of the details of a blue marlin's eye, it's color shifts, it's iridescence, and unique bill. Madison writes, "Most people are used to seeing a blue marlin lit up or pictured in dark blues, deep purples, silvers, whites, and golds, or completely faded out to black at the scales on the docks. However, blue marlins can change their colors especially when they are hunting or putting up a fight when being reeled in. They light up and their colors can completely shift in a blink of an eye. My absolute favorite colors are their blues and greens. Not many people are aware of these color shifts that take place with billfish, unless they've had the opportunities to fish for these magnificent sea beasts many times." Madison captured her favorite colors in this piece of a blue marlin lit up dressed in blues and greens. Madison writes, "Not only, are their colors always changing, their eyes are something magic to marvel at and to look right into. Even their bills are fascinating with their tiny bumps and the way that they feel. To be able to touch this fish, hold it's bill, and look it right in the eye is an experience itself. The beauty and the details that God put into the creatures in this world are just breathtakingly beautiful. He gave me and blessed me with an artist's eye and I try my best to use these gifts that He gave me to try to capture the beauty that He created as best as I can to share with others of what I see and notice."
The original painting has been sold to a private collector in Winnfield, Louisiana.
